Acentech conducted a noise compliance study in 2020 for the M/V Grey Lady IV, a high-speed passenger catamaran that runs from Hyannis to Martha’s Vineyard.
Our study consisted of an onboard diagnostic survey, sound measurements on land, and a review of municipal noise ordinances for both Barnstable and Dukes counties.
During our noise compliance assessment, we measured sound at a nearby residential location. We performed a noise mitigation study using Cadna/A acoustic modeling software, which complies with international standard ISO 9613-2. Our final report generated several noise treatment options including an exhaust deflector, engine configuration options, ship muffler replacement, and dock placement.
