“We have received all positive comments (about the performance hall acoustics) from the residents to the performers. Several of the performers have commented that this is one of the best venues they have played in!” – Jim Freehling, CEO, President of Brookhaven at Lexington
Acentech provided acoustics, telecommunications, security and audiovisual consulting services to architecture firm DiMella Shaffer for the 175,000 SF renovation and expansion to Brookhaven at Lexington, which re-opened in 2020. The updated complex provides 48 new Independent Living apartments, 30 new Assisted Care units, as well as expanded services and amenities, upgrades to all common areas, and improvements to the Assisted Living and Long-Term Care facilities.
The architect’s compact layout integrated a new, 300-seat performance hall with residences above. Acentech was able to ensure the hall sounded great acoustically, and provided recommendations for sound isolation systems to keep unwanted noise from the adjoining apartments. The new hall also features an AV presentation system that utilizes high definition video projection, a performance sound system used for speech reinforcement and audio playback, digital audio and video signal distribution, audio and video recording with streaming capability, and an ADA-compliant inductive loop assistive listening system to provide clear sound to residents who are hard of hearing.
Upgraded telecommunications provide Brookhaven residents with the ability to connect to a wide range of online services, both locally and remote, with support for devices or systems that need to be network-connected, such as audiovisual systems, security, lighting, and building management systems. The electronic security upgrades include access control, security cameras and emergency communications systems.
A state-of-the-art fitness center features weight training, exercise machines, exercise studios, and a new pool building. Additional amenities include new artist studios, a café, and bistro-style dining. The revitalized 31-acre campus at Brookhaven reflects the excellent care and commitment to the health and wellness of its residents, while encouraging the enjoyment of nature, the arts, social events and continuing education.
