Acentech’s presence in California spans several decades, starting in the 1950’s with its parent company, Bolt Beranek and Newman (BBN). BBN’s Los Angeles office focused on acoustics and environmental noise for transportation infrastructure development. By the nineties, Acentech’s practice expanded serving significant markets—higher education, cultural arts, corporate/commercial, and energy—providing expertise in architectural acoustics, noise and vibration control, audio-visual, telecommunications, and security systems design. Acentech has contributed to major cultural institutions including the recent expansion and renovation to the Mingei International Museum and the building expansion of the Skirball Cultural Center; new and upgraded campus facilities for the University of California and the Los Angeles Community College systems; transportation-related facilities for Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and California High Speed Rail; and energy infrastructure for Southern California Edison.
